You must have heard the popular opinion that drinking eight glasses of water a day is necessary to maintain health. While supporters of the healthy lifestyle are right about needing to stay hydrated, the eight glasses – or what amounts to two liters – are a myth.

In fact, the amount of water a person needs to drink on a daily basis depends on many factors. Your weight, your activity level, the climate you live in – all of these influence your need for hydration. It’s also a myth that no other liquids can replace pure water: you can just as well satisfy your hydration needs with tea, juice, milk or even fresh fruit. It all counts!
